tomentosa has obviously been in low gear recently. moving slow. Orders have been shipping out as usual but otherwise been very low key.
Right now my attention is elsewhere as my wife is in the hospital as the doctors try figure out what is going on with her and what to do about it.
So I've been tending to tomentosa as time allows.
I've added a few things to the site when ive had time and will continue to do so. But for now no large updates in the foreseeable future, new items will be added when I have the time, so watch the site.
I still hope to do the usual year end sale.

brutal week. working in a 2000 amp live mdp(main distribution panel) is something i wish not to do again ever.
and that was preempted by running a 200a 3phase wire 12 stories up through more 90 degree bends than i cared to count.
so after that been hiding away doing panel work in mechanical room after mechanical room. spent yesterday with the door closed and a few tapes playing to make things easier. mostly older tapes of stuff i hadnt heard in forever but worked out beautifully. Nice when you can come back and listen to stuff you'd lost yr love for in the past, but now in the right context you can totally dig em again.
intial phase of site is ready, just waiting on server changeover which since its my cousin and he's busy with his own world of stuff it may be a bit.
hopefully soon. not a big deal cause im waiting on a few things.
first off inner mountain festival was amazing.
really thankful for rafi b for organizing this show and bringing it to town
you might of noticed tomentosa has been coasting a bit this summer
no heavy duty action. As ive said before im supervising a project for my dayjob that's taking a lot of my time so unfortunately there's little time for tomentosa.
i expect to get back up to speed near the end of summer.
also in the meanwhile im hoping to do some much needed work on the site

things recently have been dominated by my dayjob. working all the time. been sick this past week/weekend, worked anyways. so tomentosa has had no time.
that being said im working on next update now.
if time allows im thinking midweek.
as far as tomentosa goes. right now im trying to tone it down for the summer so i can make some changes. but not even being able to keep up with anything but getting orders out has delayed all that.
but things will happen
still continue to be amazed by the # of labels/artists out there and also continually bummed by the amount of funds it would take to stock releases by all these labels.
overall though ive been quite pleased with the variety of releases that tomentosa has been able to stock recently.
releases that ive been really happy to be able to help distribute. The last batch of tapes from poor farm editions comes to mind, the rainbow body cassette as well as the new self released Cube tape(prev. cubicle). The cubicle tape has been played a lot around here and just recently quickly sold out from a series of overseas orders. Really glad to see folks finding out about that tape and ive been able to arrange for restocks of that cassette as well as the previously mentioned poor farm editions.
also been getting some interesting demos recently that im looking forward to getting more copies of. all in all it's always nice to see folks still working on bedroom labels and keeping to small release runs. and please keep emailing and sending tapes to tomentosa.
next update mebbe after the holiday.
days are just rolling by. getting together another update, maybe this weekend if all goes well.

nonstop work week. spent most of the day yesterday ripping off exterior trim on my house and replacing it. Somehow someone though MDF trim would work well on the exterior. It doesnt. Then trying to curb my deepening addiction to yardsales and thrift stores. Been hard cause ive been finding some decent stuff. Yesterday some vintage tapes and a large lot of new age/eastern spirituality books all for super cheap; hard to pass up.
found some time to add a few things to the site, a tape from scissoring; duo of cody watson (pink priest, malibu wands etc) & dan svizeny(cough cool). a batch from poor farm editions that im looking forward to listening to; this is the last of most of these releases which were all quite limited to start with; also added two releases on Tor press.
also have a few more copies of the basho lp
sat morning was perfectly planned but completely went sideways & nothing was accomplished besides going back to bed to reset the day.
now found some time to add a few things, a few known releases a few unknowns. ive been digging the cube cassette & thoughts on air; but this small batch is pretty deep and im just starting to get into it
a side note that you should remember mp3 sound samples suck; really. most of the titles im playing side by side here sound so much better on a proper format. just use em to get an idea.
& definitely buy the jd emmanuel, one can never have enough jd emmanuel releases.
after a long day was able to find some time this evening to get the ball rolling Added a few lps, some new, some restock.

a ton of new stuff here, waiting for me to list it. some really sweet releases. new batch on permanent nostalgia, couple daniel bachmann/sacred harp lps that have been getting lots of play around here, big batch of reissues on its way from a label thats been quiet for a whole but a label that ive been wanting to stock for a long time. really stoked for this batch to arrive and actually get to listen to some things ive been trying to get my hands on for a while.
A real nice assortment of smaller lesser known releases that ive come across. The kind of releases that we are working more towards stocking.
and im sorry the update is taking a bit to get around to, but family life and my dayjob has been taking up all my time.
Also have to say that with the rise of more underground distros i definitely feel that there hasnt been a similiar rise in customers so from a basic business perspective there's more shops same amount of buyers; well one gets the idea. This doesnt bother me as tomentosa was not started or run as a way to make a living as i have a job already. But do know that your support means i can devote more time to tomentosa; time to stock more interesting releases and time to dig up worthwhile used collections. I do see some changes in our future as there is a few things about the site that i continually wrestle with and am on the cusp of changing. So stay tuned but dont worry we're not going anywhere.
And thanks for your support and patience; i hope to keep rewarding ya with releases you cant find anywhere else and prices as low as possible.

went to yard sales this morning, had to pass on 5$ bowling ball; my choice of dale earnhardt, johnny bravo, budweiser or scooby doo decorated.
Been hoping to get some time working on the site this weekend but my kids are in a sour mood; they're pissed summer vacation is taking so long to get here.
just got in copies of new padang food tigers lp on bathetic. Another killer lp from bathetic, been getting played a lot around here
Made me dig out copies of their first lp on blackest rainbow which surprisingly i still have a copy of listed on the site. definitely worth checking out the first lp. if you havent and want to, add it to yr order I just changed the price to 12$(from 18$) as a kickback to those who still check in between updates......
been in midspring malaise here. been waylaid by work & the desire to drink beer rather than sit in front of a computer.
but an update is coming together. some new, some used, a few restocks
been listening to the sacred harp lp quite a bit as i just got restocks. real nice solo guitar that ventures out there at times.
been digging some of these branches tracks i came across; haves tapes out on solid melts & uuu
spent yesterday at columbia, sc record fair which went ok, I had a lot of records which most buyers seemed to not be into, which is weird cause most of em were records that people eat up in asheville. but columbia is in a way way different zone for sure.
